Encouraging Independence and Self-Direction
Cincinnati’s Optimum Residential Environments, Inc. (CORE) offers appealing living opportunities to adults with developmental disabilities. All individuals who are served by CORE, Inc. are encouraged to express and act upon their personal desires regarding lifestyle, companionship, and community involvement.

Based on this philosophy, the quality support services of CORE, Inc. go beyond the person’s need for a safe, comfortable, pleasing home environment. Individuals are encouraged and assisted in their pursuit of stimulating and interesting lives outside their home, to their fullest capabilities.
CORE, Inc. customizes supports to meet the needs of each person served. Each individual is personally involved in developing their individual plan. No ‘cookie cutter’ supports are offered. Rather, CORE, Inc. strives to identify the talents of each person and build upon those gifts.
Some persons prefer the more stimulating group living situation and are matched with no more than four other individuals who live in private residences scattered throughout the community. Other individuals may choose to live independently in an apartment or house of their own. They are also supported in their efforts to reach their highest potential of self-sufficiency and productivity. These smaller living situations are provided to individuals through ENCORE (Extended Networks of CORE, Inc.). Screened and well-trained CORE, Inc. staff members service every support location. Management level staff are available as well, by phone, on a 24-hour basis.
This is My Home and My Life
A visit to one of CORE, Inc.’s group homes is very much like a visit to any family home in any neighborhood. Those in residence are busy preparing meals, doing household chores, watching TV, playing cards, or talking on the phone. Individuals go to the grocery store and select their own food. They choose their own clothes, decide how to spend their own paychecks, develop hobbies and friendships, and decide how to spend their free time.
The ‘family’ is comprised of no more than five persons who receive around-the-clock support from CORE, Inc. staff members. Some individuals work with employers in the community. Others work at sheltered workshops, and still others have contract jobs that offer a variety of work situations. Some lucky individuals are retired and enjoy the slower, less pressured pace of life.
When not at home or work, many of our individuals have busy social lives, enjoying the recreational activities the community offers. With staff support, individuals are free to come and go as they please. They share a lifestyle that optimizes their individual skills and talents, and encourages continued growth.

Andrea Adams
Andrea Adams is a seasoned leader with over 25 years of experience working with children and adults with developmental disabilities, inspired by her personal journey with a family member with a developmental disability. Holding a Bachelor’s degree from Louisiana Tech University and an MBA from the University of Phoenix, Andrea has cultivated a wealth of knowledge and expertise in advocacy and leadership development.
Throughout her career, Andrea has dedicated herself to improving the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities, drawing from her intimate understanding of the challenges and joys that come with it. Her extensive experience spans roles in Louisiana, Texas, and Ohio, providing her with a deep understanding of regional challenges and opportunities.
Andrea has spent the last nine years at CORE, Inc, where she has served in various roles, culminating in her current position as Executive Director for the past three years. During her tenure at CORE, Inc, Andrea has demonstrated exceptional leadership and a deep commitment to the organization’s mission. She has played a pivotal role in driving strategic initiatives, fostering collaboration among team members, and maximizing the organization’s impact within the community. Andrea is dedicated to fostering a culture where every person, regardless of their ability, is valued and supported in their personal and professional growth.

Mindy Ponder
Mindy Ponder brings nearly two decades of invaluable experience in the field of Developmental Disabilities to her role as Director of Quality Assurance and Program Development at CORE Inc. With a dedicated focus on enhancing the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities, Mindy has spent the past eight years at CORE Inc., demonstrating unwavering commitment and passion for improving service delivery and ensuring the highest standards of care.
Mindy’s journey in the realm of developmental disabilities has been multifaceted, having worked extensively in residential supports in both the waiver and Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) realms. Her profound understanding of the intricacies of these services has enabled her to spearhead initiatives aimed at optimizing client outcomes and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the organization.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Mindy is a vibrant individual with diverse interests. An avid sports enthusiast, she finds solace and joy in playing volleyball and softball during her leisure time. Her love for sports extends back to her collegiate years at Ohio Dominican, where she not only pursued degrees in Psychology and Sociology but also played fastpitch for the Panthers.
Mindy’s academic background, hands-on experience and unwavering dedication, makes her an invaluable asset to the CORE Inc. team. Her relentless pursuit of excellence and her genuine compassion for individuals with developmental disabilities embody the core values of the organization, driving positive change and innovation in the field.

Our Earlwood Home is a beautiful 2-story, 4-bedroom cape cod home located on the West side of Cincinnati. Our Earlwood location is minutes from numerous indoor and outdoor activities.
Ballyclare
Our Ballyclare home is a newly renovated 4 bedroom and 2 bathroom ranch-style home located in Springfield Township on a quiet suburban street. It features a fireplace and back patio.
Plantation Way
Our Plantation Way Home is a spacious 2-story traditional home with 5 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. It features a large living room and a lower level exercise room. This home is located in College Hill, minutes away from the Clovernook Center for the Blind.
